It is 10 October the ‘compromesso’ (the written purchase agreement) has been finalised and signed by all parties. The transfer date must take place before 31 March 2020. On 23 October, our house in Baarn is up for sale. Within a week, we have three bids above the asking price. Within two weeks, our house is sold ‘without reservation of financing’. Meanwhile, Sander (in addition to his-more-than-full-time job! ) is still ‘briefly’ renovating one of our vacant flats in our house in Utrecht (because it will be rented out as of 1 November), we have talks with the accountant, with the tax specialist: Sander and I both want to continue working for our employer or clients in the Netherlands, but largely remotely, how can we make that practical and fiscally correct? We want to organise a farewell party, because we do go away and we do leave something behind in the form of a lot of lovely people and, of course, our beloved Baarn. We hear that Ton's condition is deteriorating and decide to bring forward the handover date to 15 January, so that the owners of Pian del Nasso can be relieved of the care of the house in Italy as soon as possible.
